A MAP Authority alternative for brands beyond Amazon

MAP Authority is an Amazon-first MAP monitoring and enforcement tool priced from $49 per month for 50 Amazon products, as published on 24 July 2026. Brands look for a MAP Authority alternative when they need storefront and marketplace coverage beyond Amazon, or MAP and competitive price monitoring in one tool.

MAP Authority publishes its prices, which makes this comparison easy to do honestly. As read from their pricing page on 24 July 2026, Scout is $49 per month, or $39 billed annually, for up to 50 Amazon products. Guardian is $249 or $199 and lifts the product cap while adding automated violation emails to sellers. Commander is $499 or $399. Enforcer is $999 or $799 and adds automatic blocking of MAP violations on Amazon before they go live, which is a capability we do not have. If your MAP problem is Amazon and only Amazon, MAP Authority is a focused fit and you should price it seriously. Brands look elsewhere when the catalogue crosses 50 products, when violations turn up on retailer storefronts, or when the same budget also has to cover competitive price monitoring.

What MAP Authority costs

Every figure below is as published on the MAP Authority pricing page on 24 July 2026. Pricing is a flat subscription per brand rather than per seat or per monitored URL, and each tier carries both a product ceiling and a set of enforcement capabilities. Their site states there is no long term commitment, with monthly billing and the option to cancel at any time.

The ladder moves on two axes at once. Product volume steps once, between Scout and Guardian. Capability steps three separate times, and each step buys a different job rather than more of the same one.

  • Automated violation emails to sellers start at Guardian, $249 per month. Scout logs and analyses violations; it does not send the notice.
  • Web and non-Amazon marketplace coverage starts at Commander, $499 per month. Scout and Guardian are sold as Amazon monitoring.
  • Pre-listing price blocking on Amazon is Enforcer only, $999 per month. This is their flagship claim and nothing below Enforcer includes it.
  • Authorised reseller relationship management in the dashboard is also Enforcer only.
  • Unlimited product coverage starts at Guardian. Scout is capped at 50 Amazon products.

That 50-product cap is the step most buyers hit first, and it is a cliff rather than a slope. Scout to Guardian is $49 to $249, a step of roughly 5.1x, and $39 to $199 annually is about the same multiple. What the money buys is unlimited Amazon products plus automated seller emails, on the same single channel. A brand with 60 ASINs pays what a brand with 6,000 pays.

One process detail to budget for. The 15-day trial starts self-serve, but converting to paid is not a checkout: their pricing FAQ states that after identity verification a secure electronic payment link is sent, and plan changes and cancellation are handled by email. That is reasonable for MAP tooling, where knowing which brand you are dealing with matters. It also means the step from trial to paid has a person in it.

Where MAP Authority is the better choice

There is one capability on their Enforcer tier that we do not have, and it is not a small one. Their published description is that if a seller attempts to lower a product price below your MAP policy, the request is denied automatically and the violating price never reaches the Amazon detail page. Detection tools, ours included, find the violation after it is live and hand you evidence to act on. Blocking stops the listing going out at all. If that difference matters more to you than anything else on this page, buy theirs.

  • Your MAP problem is Amazon. Their entry tier is built for exactly that shape of buyer, with Amazon Seller Central catalogue sync and violation analysis broken out by product and by seller.
  • You want prevention, not evidence. Pre-listing blocking on Amazon is on their Enforcer tier at $999 per month, or $799 annually, as published 24 July 2026. We do not offer it.
  • You want the notices sent for you. Automated, customisable violation emails to sellers are on Guardian and above. We produce the evidence packet and leave sending to you or your counsel.
  • Your catalogue is genuinely tiny. Fifty Amazon products for $39 per month on annual billing is less than half our entry price, and if that is the whole job, the cheaper invoice is the right answer.

Two published details help you scope the enforcement promise accurately. Their support content states that retailers accept a MAP agreement through their own dashboard, that retailers are not required to stay enrolled unless their agreement with the brand says otherwise, and that brands are notified when a retailer stops. It also states that Amazon Retail and Vendor Central pricing cannot be enforced. That is useful disclosure: it tells you which sellers the blocking mechanism binds before you model the outcome.

When a MAP Authority alternative is worth pricing

The case for looking elsewhere is not that their tiers are expensive. At the top end they are and at the bottom end they are cheaper than we are. The case is about shape: their ladder starts with one channel and adds the rest later, and it prices MAP separately from every other pricing job you have.

  • Violations appear on retailer storefronts and smaller marketplaces, not only on Amazon, so the entry and second tiers do not cover your channel mix.
  • You need timestamped screenshot evidence of the offending page, not only a structured log of prices and timestamps.
  • The same team also has to answer competitive pricing questions, so paying twice for two tools is hard to defend in a budget review.
  • You want to run MAP monitoring and competitor price monitoring off one matched catalogue rather than reconciling two.

Where we are different

Our packaging position is that capability is never the upsell. You pay for scale, meaning how many products you track and how often we refresh them. Starter is $99 per month for 500 products at daily refresh with 10 competitor URLs per product. Growth is $299 for 2,500 products at twice-daily refresh with unlimited competitor URLs. Scale is $699 for 10,000 products at four-times-daily refresh. All of them include MAP monitoring with screenshot evidence, product matching, repricing, analytics, the REST API, webhooks, every integration and unlimited users. There is no tier where MAP switches on. The numbers are on our pricing page.

The second difference is what a violation produces. When we detect a below-MAP listing we capture a timestamped screenshot of the offending page, identify the seller, track repeat offences against that seller, and export an evidence packet you can attach to a notice. A price is a claim; a screenshot is a record of the page that made it. MAP Authority publishes an Enforcement Log carrying the product name, agreement name, violation attempt price, enforced price, retailer name and time stamp. A screenshot capability does not appear anywhere on their published material as of 24 July 2026.

The third difference is that we report on our own data quality per source. Every monitored domain carries a coverage and freshness figure you can see. When a site changes layout the extraction recipe is regenerated automatically, and when a product URL moves the match is rediscovered by identifier rather than by URL. If a source degrades we tell you before your own reporting goes quiet. That is the failure mode that quietly ruins price monitoring: nothing errors, the chart just goes flat, and nobody looks for three weeks. Detail is on data quality.

Not published means we found no statement of it on the vendor's own pages on 24 July 2026. It is not a claim that the capability is absent. Ask them.

How to evaluate the switch

Do not compare feature lists. Compare output on the products that actually cause you trouble. Both trials are long enough to overlap, so run them at the same time on the same catalogue.

  1. 1

    Pick your 50 hardest SKUs

Not your bestsellers. Pick variants, multipacks, bundles, kit SKUs, items that share a title with a competitor product, and any listing with a long seller list. Easy SKUs match everywhere and prove nothing.

  2. 2

Run both trials over the same fortnight

Theirs is 15 days, ours is 14 days with no credit card. Start on the same Monday so both tools see the same market movements and the same promotional events.

  3. 3

    Check every match by hand

Open all 50 matched listings in each tool and mark each one correct, wrong or missing. Wrong matches are more expensive than missing ones, because they generate false violations. Our method is written up in the product matching guide.

  4. 4

Look at what one violation produces

Trigger or find a real below-MAP listing in each tool and export whatever the tool gives you. Then ask the person who would actually send the notice whether they would sign their name to it.

  5. 5

Price the full configuration, not the entry tier

Write down your real product count, your real channel list and whether you need notices sent for you or prices blocked. Then read both price lists again against that, not against the cheapest row.

  6. 6

Ask both vendors the same maintenance question

What happens when a monitored retailer changes its page layout, who notices first, and how are you told. The answers separate tools far more than feature grids do.

Here is the arithmetic worked for one example brand. Take a powersports brand with 300 Amazon ASINs and six retailer storefronts to watch. Scout stops at 50 products and Guardian is sold as Amazon monitoring, so that channel mix lands on Commander at $499 per month, or $399 annually, which is $4,788 for the year. Our Starter plan covers 500 products with MAP monitoring, screenshot evidence, competitive monitoring and repricing included at $99 per month, which is $1,188 for the year, or roughly $990 with annual billing. The gap is about $3,800 a year. That is not the whole picture: if this brand needs prices blocked before they publish on Amazon, we cannot do it at any price, and Enforcer at $799 per month annually, $9,588 for the year, is the only line here that buys it.

Published price ladders for the whole category, including the vendors who publish nothing at all, are in the full pricing study. Other head-to-heads written to the same sourcing rules are on all comparisons, and the wider buying framework is in how to choose price monitoring software.

Run both trials on the same 50 SKUs

14 days, no credit card, nothing switched off. MAP monitoring with screenshot evidence, repricing, the API and per-source data quality reporting are all on the $99 plan.

Frequently asked questions

How much does MAP Authority cost?

As published on their pricing page on 24 July 2026, Scout is $49 per month or $39 billed annually for up to 50 Amazon products, Guardian is $249 or $199, Commander is $499 or $399, and Enforcer is $999 or $799. Their site states monthly billing with no long term commitment and the option to cancel at any time.

Does MAP Authority monitor sites other than Amazon?

Their pricing page sells Commander at $499 per month as monitoring across online marketplaces and retail websites. A support article on the same site, read on the same day, states that MAP Authority currently works on Amazon.com. We cannot tell which page is current, so if non-Amazon coverage is why you are buying, ask them to confirm the channel list in writing.

What is the MAP Authority product limit?

Scout is capped at up to 50 Amazon products, as published 24 July 2026. Guardian and above are sold as unlimited Amazon product coverage. That means the jump from 50 products to 51 is a move from $49 to $249 per month, or $39 to $199 annually, which is the largest single step on their published ladder.

Does MAP Authority capture screenshot evidence of violations?

They publish an Enforcement Log that records the product name, agreement name, violation attempt price, enforced price, retailer name and time stamp. We found no screenshot or page-capture capability described on their published material on 24 July 2026. Our MAP monitoring captures a timestamped screenshot of the offending page on every plan, including the $99 Starter plan.

Can Price Intelligence block MAP violations before they go live on Amazon?

No. That capability is on the MAP Authority Enforcer tier at $999 per month, or $799 annually as published 24 July 2026, and we do not offer an equivalent. We detect a below-MAP listing after it publishes, capture screenshot evidence, identify the seller and export an enforcement packet. If prevention on Amazon is your priority, buy theirs.

Is MAP Authority cheaper than Price Intelligence?

At the entry point, yes. Scout is $49 per month, or $39 annually, against our $99 Starter plan. Scout covers up to 50 Amazon products. Our Starter covers 500 products across storefronts and marketplaces with MAP evidence, competitive monitoring, repricing and the API included. Which is cheaper depends entirely on your catalogue size and channel mix.
