Competera alternative: are you the buyer they are built for?

Competera does not publish prices. Its Pricing nav link leads to a quote request form, and competera.ai/pricing returned HTTP 404 when checked on 24 July 2026. Competera sells Competitive Data and an AI Pricing Platform as separate products aimed at enterprise and large mid-market omnichannel retail. A Competera alternative fits mid-market buyers who want published, self-serve pricing.

We sell a competing product. Every figure above comes from Competera's own published pages on the date shown, so you can check it. Pricing changes without notice — if something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

Competera publishes no price of any kind. Checked on 24 July 2026, competera.ai/pricing returns HTTP 404, and the Pricing link in their own navigation resolves to a request-pricing page that shows three product bundles with a Request Quote button where a number would be. There is no published trial either. The site is genuinely aimed at enterprise and large mid-market omnichannel retail, and it sells two top-level products that can be bought standalone or together: Competitive Data, which is price intelligence, and the AI Pricing Platform, which is optimization. That split is the most useful fact on this page. If you are a large multi-category retailer who wants a demand model deciding thousands of prices, with markdown and promo decisions in the same system, Competera is aimed squarely at you and you should take the demo. If what you actually need is competitor prices, MAP evidence and rules-based repricing, you are buying one half of their product at an enterprise motion, and a published price list will get you there faster.

What Competera costs

There is no answer we can give you, because Competera does not publish one, and we are not going to repeat a third-party estimate as if it were their price. What we can do is show exactly what is and is not on their site as of 24 July 2026, so you know what you will have to ask for.

Source: competera.ai, read 24 July 2026. Every cell that says not published means the vendor states nothing on the pages we read. It does not mean the capability or the term does not exist, and we are not filling the gap with a guess.

The packaging split is the part worth carrying into your first call. Competitive Data and the AI Pricing Platform are sold as two products. That is unusual and, for a buyer, useful: it means there is a version of a Competera deal that is data only, and a version that is data plus an optimization engine, and they are not the same purchase. Ask which one the quote you are holding actually covers.

Where Competera is the better choice

This is not a close call in every scenario. There are buyers for whom Competera is the right answer and we are not, and it is worth being precise about who they are.

  • You are buying price optimization, not price monitoring. Competera publishes an AI Pricing Platform with what-if simulation and lifecycle pricing. That is a demand-model product: it proposes prices from modelled elasticity and business objectives, rather than from a rule you wrote. We do not build that. Our repricing is a rule engine with hard guardrails, and if you want a model choosing prices across a large catalogue, you want their category of product, not ours. Read price optimization software for the distinction before you shortlist either of us.
  • Markdown and promo are part of the job. Competera publishes markdown optimization and promo management as offerings. If your calendar is driven by seasonal sell-through and promotional mechanics, those are large, real problems, and they are not in our product at all.
  • You are multi-category and omnichannel at scale. Their site addresses automotive supplies and parts, home improvement and DIY, sporting goods, health and wellness and beauty, pet supplies, grocery and consumables, apparel and footwear, electronics, duty-free retail and office supplies. Their homepage names large retail brands including Sephora, Autodoc and Lyreco among their customers, as read on 24 July 2026. That is the profile of the business they have built for.
  • You want a consulting relationship, not a login. Pricing consultancy is a distinct offering on their site. If your pricing function is being stood up rather than run, the absence of a self-serve trial is not a defect, it is the delivery model you are buying.

Are you actually that buyer?

Most people who arrive on a page like this have been quoted by an enterprise vendor and are quietly wondering whether they were sold the right size of thing. Here is a test you can run in five minutes. Score one point for each statement that is true of your business today, not the one in your three-year plan.

  1. 1More than 20,000 active SKUs where price is actually managed, not just listed.
  2. 2Three or more categories with genuinely different price elasticity and different competitive sets.
  3. 3Physical stores as well as online, with prices that must be reconciled across both.
  4. 4A pricing team of two or more people whose full-time job is pricing.
  5. 5Regular markdown or promotional cycles that need optimizing, not just monitoring.
  6. 6A demand model, or a serious intention to build one, and the transaction history to feed it.
  7. 7A procurement process that expects an annual contract, an implementation project and a named account team.

Five or more true means you are the buyer Competera is built for, and a quote-only motion is a normal cost of that market. Take the demo and negotiate properly. Two or fewer means you are shopping in the wrong aisle: what you need is competitor prices you can trust, MAP enforcement evidence and a rule engine, which is a published-price category. Three or four is the genuinely hard middle, and the right move there is to buy the smaller thing now and revisit in a year, because an optimization platform with thin data underneath it optimizes nothing. The general framework is in how to choose price monitoring software.

Where we are different

The first difference is that you can read our price without talking to anyone. As published on our own pricing page on 24 July 2026: Starter is $99 per month for 500 products with daily refresh, Growth is $299 for 2,500 products at twice-daily refresh, Scale is $699 for 10,000 products at four-times-daily refresh, and Enterprise is custom for unlimited products at hourly refresh with an SLA and SSO. Those are on our pricing page and they are the whole list.

The second is that nothing is gated. Every plan, including the $99 one, includes automatic matching, MAP monitoring with screenshot evidence, the repricing engine, analytics, the REST API, webhooks, every integration and unlimited users. You pay for scale, meaning how many products and how often they refresh. You never pay to switch a capability on. That is a different commercial shape from a platform assembled out of separately purchasable products, and it is the shape that suits a buyer who does not yet know which capability will matter most in month four.

Index = your price ÷ average in-stock competitor price × 100. Above 100 means you are priced above the market.

Price index and position against the market on the entry plan. 100 means at market; below 100 means priced under the market average.

The third is MAP. Competera does not publish MAP monitoring as a named product. We build the enforcement workflow explicitly: below-MAP detection, a timestamped screenshot of the offending page as evidence, seller identification, repeat-offender tracking and an exportable evidence packet. If you are a brand whose main pricing problem is a distributor undercutting your floor on a marketplace, that is a different product to a demand model, and it is on MAP monitoring software.

Every row links to a timestamped capture of the listing as it appeared. Repeat counts track the same seller across the enforcement history.

Below-MAP listings with seller, the gap against MAP and captured evidence, included on every plan rather than quoted.

The fourth is that we report on our own data quality per source. Coverage and freshness are on a dashboard, extraction recipes regenerate themselves when a site changes layout, matches are re-discovered by identifier when a product URL moves, and you are alerted when a source degrades rather than finding out from a stale number. We publish that because silent collection failure is the failure mode that actually costs money in this category. Competera does not publish a per-source data quality report, and we are making no claim about how good their data is, only about what each of us discloses. The mechanics are on the data quality page.

Competera cells are what their site publishes, read 24 July 2026, not an assessment of their capability. Not published means we found no statement either way. Our figures are on our pricing page, and the wider ladder of published prices in this category is in the full pricing study.

How to evaluate the switch

You cannot run two trials here, because Competera does not publish one. So run ours and run their demo against the same evidence, in the same fortnight, and make them answer the same questions.

  1. 1

Pick the 50 hardest SKUs, not the bestsellers

Variants, multipacks, bundles, private label, anything without a clean GTIN, and anything where three competitors write the title three different ways. Fifty is small enough to check by hand and awkward enough to be diagnostic. Send the same 50 to both sides.

  2. 2

Run our trial on that list

14 days, no credit card, nothing switched off. Import the 50, let matching run, and watch the confidence scores as much as the matches.

  3. 3

    Check every match by hand

Open each competitor URL the tool assigned and confirm pack size and variant, not just brand and model. Count the wrong ones, and separately count the ones the tool flagged as uncertain. A tool that surfaces its own doubt is more useful than one that is quietly confident. Method in the product matching guide.

  4. 4

Make the demo use your data

A demo on their sample catalogue tells you nothing about your catalogue. Ask Competera to match the same 50 SKUs and show you the result, including what it could not match. If a proof of concept is offered, ask in writing whether it is chargeable and what happens to the data afterwards.

  5. 5

Price the full configuration, both sides

Write down products, competitor sites, refresh rate, markets, MAP, repricing, API, alerting and users. Total ours at the plan that contains all of it. For Competera, get a written quote that names which products are included, the billing metric, the minimum term and the year-two figure, then compare annual totals rather than headline numbers.

  6. 6

    Break something on purpose

Ask both vendors what appears on screen when a source stops returning a price. Look for a capture time beside every number and an alert on degradation rather than on disappearance. Ask how a layout change on a competitor site is detected and repaired, and how long that takes.

Other head-to-heads written to the same sourcing rules are on all comparisons, and what this category does generally is on competitor price monitoring.

Start on the same 50 SKUs, today

14 days, no credit card. MAP monitoring, repricing, the API and per-source data quality reporting are on the $99 plan, not behind a quote.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Competera cost?

Competera does not publish a price. Checked on 24 July 2026, competera.ai/pricing returns HTTP 404 and the Pricing link in their navigation leads to a quote request page showing three bundles with Request Quote buttons instead of figures. The billing metric, minimum term and contract length are not published either, so any number you see elsewhere is not from them.

Does Competera offer a free trial?

No trial is published on any Competera page we read on 24 July 2026. The conversion path is demo first, with REQUEST A DEMO and Talk to an expert as the calls to action. Third-party summaries sometimes suggest a trial is available on request, which we could not verify against their own site, so ask them directly.

Is Competera worth it for a mid-market retailer?

It depends on whether you are buying optimization or monitoring. Competera sells Competitive Data and an AI Pricing Platform as separate products aimed at enterprise and large mid-market omnichannel retail. If you have multiple categories, stores as well as online and a dedicated pricing team, that fit is real. If you need competitor prices, MAP evidence and rule-based repricing, a published-price tool covers it for less.

Does Competera do MAP monitoring?

Competera does not publish MAP monitoring as a named product. Their published line-up covers Competitive Data, the AI Pricing Platform, pricing analytics, dynamic pricing, promo management and markdown optimization, as read on 24 July 2026. If MAP enforcement is your reason for buying, confirm it with them in writing before budgeting.

What is the difference between Competera and Price Intelligence?

Competera sells demand-model price optimization alongside competitive data, at a quote-only enterprise motion, and publishes no prices. We sell competitor monitoring, MAP protection with screenshot evidence, rule-based repricing and analytics at published prices from $99 per month, with every capability on every plan. We do not do elasticity modelling, markdown optimization or promo management.

Can I buy just Competera Competitive Data without the pricing platform?

Their site describes Competitive Data and the AI Pricing Platform as two products that can be bought standalone or together, so a data-only purchase appears to be possible. No price is published for either, and which capabilities carry incremental cost is not published. Ask which of the two any quote you receive actually covers.
